ONTARIO >> Continuing the trend for the past several months, passenger activity at LA/Ontario International Airport in September was up 8.4 percent from the same month last year.

According to traffic reports released by Los Angeles World Airports on Friday, the airport has seen an overall 3.75 percent increase in the first nine months of the year compared to the same time frame in 2013.

A total of 3 million people have traveled through the airport from January through September this year compared to the 2.9 million travelers during the same period in 2013. It is only an increase of 110,392 passengers.

“The positive change in traffic started earlier this year and appears to be on a good path for the rest of 2014,” said Jess Romo, ONT’s airport manager, in a statement.

It is a stark contrast to when the airport was losing passenger traffic in the double-digit figures each month following the recession.
