REDLANDS >> The third City Council candidate forum of the season will be tonight at the University of Redlands.
The event will be free and open to the public.
All six candidates vying for the three open seats—Paul Barich, Neil Derry, Jane Dreher, Paul Foster, Jon Harrison and John Montgomery—will participate.
So far there have been two public forums where all candidates were invited, one hosted by the Redlands Chamber of Commerce and one by the Redlands Conservancy, which Montgomery did not attend because he was out of town on business.
The Chamber subsequently endorsed Barich, Dreher and Mayor Pro Tem Foster. The Conservancy did not make endorsements.
The university’s forum will start at 7 p.m. in the Orton Center. Campus chaplain John Walsh will moderate, asking some previously submitted questions and also taking questions from the audience.
Candidates will give opening and closing statements and have two minutes each to respond to the questions.
“I am looking forward to talking to the young people about the voting process and participating in their civic duty as young adults,” said Paul Barich by email. “I hope that we can encourage them to register and vote, and that their vote can make a difference.”
University vice president and dean of student life Char Burgess organized the forum.

The Sun said “tonight” being Tuesday night but the Redlands Daily Facts posted it on the front page on WEDNESDAY “tonight” … WTH????!!!! Typical !
Being on the wrong date is not nearly as atrocious as the slanderous mailings against Derry I’ve received in the mail. How can they legally mail such lies? And multiples of the same mailing against Derry and Chabot. OBVIOUSLY whoever is doing this not only lies but doesn’t think GREEN.
