San Bernardino - No on Q

Saturday, October 11, 2014 – 10:30 a.m.

Opposition to a San Bernardino charter amendment targeting the way salaries of police officers and firefighters are calculated is now in full battle mode.

The San Bernardino Police Officers Association and San Bernardino City Professional Firefighters have now engaged to oppose the milk toast measure.

“NO on Q” signs now pepper the bankrupt city, with only a scant number of signs in support of the measure.

The well-funded unions are completely outspending and out maneuvering Mayor Carey Davis and the City Council, who squandered an opportunity at true charter reform, only to mount an attack on police and firefighters.

Measure Q would move, the setting of the base salaries-only of police officers and firefighters, from a set survey to the bargaining table.

Do San Bernardino polticians really believe they will slash wages of its first responders, who are the only people showing up at calls for service in the city, which has pretty much become a shooting gallery?

Don’t be surprised if “Q” goes down in flames.
