SAN BERNARDINO>> Republican Congressional candidate Paul Chabot, surrounded by friends and supporters at the TVC Mas Latino Studios in San Bernardino, spoke out against a recent rash of political mailers which he called “racist” and “sexist.”

Four mailers paid for by House Majority PAC claim that women and Latinos would suffer if Chabot is elected to Congress.

“We are all for open and great dialogue and debate. That’s what is essential to the United States of America,” said Chabot, who was accompanied by his wife, Brenda, their son, executives at the stations and long-time friends.

“The challenge is when you have negative comments said about your campaign and people that you work with and I think the American public deserves the truth. They are receiving a lot of mail, a lot of TV advertising which is really attacking the character of our campaign with outright lies.”

Chabot is running to represent the 31st Congressional District against Democrat and Redlands Mayor Pete Aguilar. The district spans from Rancho Cucamonga to Redlands.

The mailers reference portions of comments Chabot made in the San Bernardino Sun and Redlands Daily Facts as well as during his 2010 campaign for the Assembly regarding his stance on the Affordable Healthcare Act and border security.

“Voters need to know about Paul Chabot’s conservative Republican agenda,” said Matt Thornton, communications director for House Majority PAC. “If Chabot makes it to Washington, he will be yet another voice in the chorus of Tea Party extremists.”

Two of the mailers claim that if Chabot is elected to Congress he would not support providing affordable health care services to women, nor would it be illegal for insurance companies to charge women more than men for equal care.
