A Perris, Calif., city councilman was charged with multiple felonies Friday relating to a June drug incident at a Red Lion Inn.

Julio Rodriguez, 28, was charged with two felony counts of furnishing a controlled substance, one felony count of possession of a controlled substance and two misdemeanor counts — one each of being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a news release from the Riverside district attorney’s office.

The charges stem from a June 24 incident when Rodriguez called police saying his iPad had been stolen by someone visiting his room, according to the release.
