Rancho Cucamonga Mayor L. Dennis Michael has become second vice president of the League of California Cities, which works to influence policy decisions affecting cities.

He will advance to first vice president in a year, provided he is re-elected mayor of Rancho Cucamonga in November. He is being challenged by businessman Jim Moffatt.

As Jerry Brown seeks his fourth term as governor this year, he’s crowing about balancing the state budget after years of deficits that piled up a “wall of debt.”

Certainly Brown deserves some of the credit.
