A day after the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee debuted its television ad attacking his opponent, congressional candidate Pete Aguilar debuted his own television ad — the first of the general election — on Thursday morning.

Like the print and television ads his campaign used during the primary season, Aguilar’s new advertisement features a Hispanic woman praising his suitability for office: This time out, it’s his eighth-grade history teacher, Susana Rodriguez, who says she’ll “never forget” the Redlands mayor turned candidate for the 31st Congressional District.

“He was always eager to learn. I had a pretty good idea what he’d being doing when he grew up,” Rodriguez says in the ad. “So I’m not surprised that Pete’s running for Congress to improve education, expand job training and make college more affordable.”
