Politicians wade into tight California races with troops, cash.

WASHINGTON – If you feel like congressional campaigns started early – a candidate’s knock on your door, a political ad on TV – you are right.
This year, the long knives of campaign battle came out almost as soon as the last California primary vote was counted in June, especially in a handful of tight races where Democrats or Republicans see an opportunity to nab a seat in the House of Representatives.
