The PE: REGION: November ballot complete

In some districts, an insufficient number of candidates filed, which will lead to appointments of new governing board members.

The fields are complete for the Nov. 4 ballot and several competitive races have developed for Inland elections.

Wednesday was the last day for candidates to qualify for the ballot in city council, school board and specials district races throughout Riverside County. Friday was the initial deadline, but races in which incumbents chose not to run were extended to allow challengers to join.

Southern California home sales hit a three-year low for the month of July and the region’s median home price dipped to $413,000, industry tracker CoreLogic DataQuick reported Wednesday.

A little more than a year before Dante Parker died while in San Bernardino County Sheriff’s custody after having been stunned with a Taser multiple times, a county grand jury committee urged the Sheriff’s Department to implement enhanced Taser training while calling for greater communication among on-scene deputies.

The state Supreme Court – or at least five of its members – got it right by declaring that an advisory measure on campaign finance placed on the Nov. 4 ballot by the Legislature is legally suspect and should be removed.
