The fields for council elections in three Victor Valley municipalities firmed up at the Friday filing deadline, according to information from city and town officials and the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters.

The races will be contested as part of the Nov. 4 Statewide General Election.

Three Apple Valley incumbents were confirmed candidates to contest for their own seats: Barbara “Barb” Stanton, Fred “Scott” Nassif and Curt Emick.

Also confirmed as vying for the seats are Tom Piper and Rick Roelle. Later filings to the Town Clerk were made by Richard Bunck and Salvador Ortiz-Lopez.

Hesperia also has three seats up for grabs.

Councilmen Russell E. “Russ” Blewett and Bill Holland had confirmed ballot status, but Mayor Thurston “Smitty” Smith did not file by deadline with the City Clerk. Because of that, the filing period is being extended until 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, city spokeswoman Rachel Molina said.

Contesting the incumbents’ campaigns are Stirling Christiansen, Christopher J. Elvert, Anthony Rhoads and James Roberts.
