A recount of select voting precincts, in the close 31st Congressional District contest, will start Wednesday.
Just 209 votes separate Lesli Gooch (R-Rancho Cucamonga) and Pete Aguilar (D-Redlands). The margin is a fraction of a pecent of total votes cast.
But it’s enough to give Aguilar, the second place finisher, the right to face Paul Chabot (R-Rancho Cucamonga).
Simply put. The final outcome won’t change here, because the raw vote margin is just too high, in contrast to the overall low district turnout numbers. It’s also highly unlikely there’s any problem with the county registrar tally.
This seat is now lean democrat in the November runoff.
