Outgoing Riverside County District Attorney Paul Zellerbach

Wednesday, June 4, 2014 – 09:30 a.m.

Riverside County voters kicked District Attorney Paul Zellerbach out of office Tuesday night.

The election wasn’t even close!

Senior Deputy District Attorney Mike Hestrin embarassed the one-term incumbent, when the votes were tallied.

We insisted Hestrin had a chance even before Zellerbach, a former Superior Court Judge, was caught using county resources in his campaign activities.

Campaigns Activities, which resulted in the Indio Police Department making a charging referral to the California Attorney General.

Two of the six recommended charges are felonies.

Before his current mess, Zellerbach had already polarized half the legal community, his office staff and the law enforcement unions. But the alleged criminal misbehavior was the icing on the cake.

Employees in the Riverside District Attorney’s Office are reportedly very pleased this Wednesday morning.

Now the big question is when will Attorney General Kamala Harris drop the hammer?

Zellerbach should just leave now.
