SAN BERNARDINO >> After seven years of planning, the new downtown San Bernardino Justice Center is set to open this month.

A dedication ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. today — but was moved inside the building due to expected high winds, Presiding Judge Marsha G. Slough said.

The center, at 247 West Third St., will be open for business on May 12. The first criminal cases will be heard there on May 19.

The facility is an 11-story building, which houses 35 courtrooms and two hearing rooms for mediation, and will host only civil and criminal cases.
