A disbarred attorney on Wednesday was sentenced for stealing more than $3 million from the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority and other clients while handling their cases, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

James Vincent Reiss, 52, of Upland, was sentenced to 10 years in prison and ordered to pay $2.47 million in restitution to Metro, Deputy District Attorney Amy Pellman Pentz said in a news release.

Reiss was under contract with Metro to handle general liability claims, according to the release. Between 2010 and 2011, he received about $2 million in fraudulent reimbursements from Metro, Pentz said.
