Another ballot statement squabble has been quietly hashed-out this week.
Sheriff-Coroner candidate Paul Schrader has been sparring with Registrar of Voters Mike Scarpello over Sheriff-Corner John McMahon’s ballot title designation.
Since McMahon is serving as an appointee of the Board of Supervisors, he’s required to have the word “appointed” in his ballot title.
Commonsense would think that “Appointed Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator” would be logical.
Not in San Bernardino County though.
McMahon’s reads “Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator, Appointed”
It’s a little quirky, but good enough!
Scarpello has informed Schrader that McMahon’s designation complies with the law, and will stand as submitted.
Schader isn’t too pleased. But the ruling is most likely proper.
