Grand Terrace

A few years ago, the San Bernardino County Distrct Attorney charged Former Grand Terrace City Councilman Jim Miller, with a single felony conflict-of-interest count, for voting on approval of check registers, which listed checks paid to his wife’s community newspaper for city-purchased advertisments.

The check registers were placed as consent calendar items, and at the time, Miller had the legal blessing of the City Attorney. Nevertheless Miller was charged.

Later on, the District Attorney declined to prosecute Former Victorville City Councilman Rudy Cabriales for an identical offense, in the interest of justice.

Miller eventually plead guilty to a misdemeanor, resigned from office. The charge was later dismissed and expunged.

It was rumored, at the time, that Grand Terrace City Councilwoman Bea Cortes was influencing the District Attorney, a political ally, behind the the scenes, to prosecute Miller, her staunch political enemy on the council.

Two years later, Cortes was ultimately thrown out of office by Grand Terrace voters.

Now this little gem shows up on Google Images. It’s unknown as to who would be leaking emails of a retired Assistant District Attorney to be placed on the Internet by others.
