Friday’s scheduled civil service hearing for a former San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department employee at the center of a well-publicized training pay scandal will go forward.

A hearing that will be open to the public.

Sources are informing that Riverside-based Attorney Saku Ethir has presented the county with appellant Angela Gray’s witness list, which included Sheriff-Coroner John McMahon, and other command staff members.

What happened afterwards was interesting.

The county reportedly dropped all charges derived from the pay scandal, and left in tact just one single charge of insubordination.

Insubordination is customarily a throw-in charge to add sauce for the goose. It’s kind of like a catch-all.

The reduction in charges can’t stop Gray from telling all. It may reduce the witness testimony somewhat.

Everyone will have to see how hearing officer David Hart handles the proceedings. This case could easily land in Superior Court.
