A list of physicians included on the Covered California website will be discontinued until further notice after errors were spotted, state officials said.

The directory was pulled because some enrollees who selected a health plan based on the insurance coverage their doctors accepted learned that the information was incorrect, according to a statement from Covered California.

“While the combined provider directory was a useful service for many consumers, some enrollees located physicians thought to be in their plan and subsequently discovered they were not,” read the statement.

Those who enrolled in a plan based on the provider directory on the Covered California website should contact their health insurance plan to verify the information.

“If enrollees find the resolution unsatisfactory, they can contact Covered California’s Service Center to cancel enrollment in their plan and enroll in a different plan before the end of the open enrollment period, March 31, 2014,” Covered California officials said.

This week’s announcement marks the second time that Covered California officials have taken down the provider directory because of inaccurate information.
