The Sun: Former San Bernardino County Supervisor Jon Mikels has died

Jon Mikels, who served as San Bernardino County’s Second District Supervisor for 16 years, died Tuesday at his home outside of Bandon, OR. He was 66 years old.

SAN BERNARDINO >> Former San Bernardino County Supervisor Jon Mikels, who represented the county’s second supervisorial district for 16 years, has died, according to the Coos County Sheriff’s Office in Oregon and Mikels’ former wife of 30 years.

SAN BERNARDINO >> There’s a lot riding on 2014.

A new mayor will take office for the first time in eight years, along with at least two new members of a City Council that’s still shifting direction after a momentous November election. As supporters of both mayoral candidates say, that could either enable a renaissance or divert the bankrupt city toward even more problems, depending on what voters say in February.
