RANCHO CUCAMONGA >> While Gov. Jerry Brown leads in recent voter polling over his expected run in the gubernatorial race next year, Inland Empire assemblyman and gubernatorial candidate Tim Donnelly is quick to point out his own position in a recent poll.

As part of his campaign tour, Donnelly, R-Hesperia, was the featured speaker for the Inland Valley Business Alliance luncheon on Tuesday, where he shared data that points to him having a lead over fellow Republican gubernatorial candidate and former Lt. Gov. Abel Maldonado.

A poll from the Public Policy Institute of California, data shows that, at this point, Brown and Donnelly would advance past the June primary. Those surveyed were asked who they would vote for if the primary were held today, with Brown at 46 percent, Donnelly at 16 percent, and Maldonado at 7 percent.

With Latino voters, Donnelly rates higher than Maldonado, with 16 percent, over Maldonado’s 8 percent.
