CLAREMONT >> Assemblyman Tim Donnelly, R-Hesperia, spoke before a crowd of about 90 receptive people at the Mountain View Republican Club seeking to separate himself from policies of the current governor Jerry Brown.
“I think my chances are excellent,” Donnelly said after his remarks Monday night at St. Ambrose Episcopal Church on how he stacks up against the current governor who he thinks will run again in 2014 “This is going to be an epic showdown between socialism and freedom. If you believe in the free enterprise system and you want to be left alone by the government, Tim Donnelly.”
He added he was for people who “believe in the constitution, and constitutional civil rights, like the right of self-defense. There is nobody else who will be a stauncher supporter on those beliefs. If you’re tired of subsidizing illegals, giving them free stuff, whether its free college tuition, welfare, or free education, every time you turn around they’re being given a new right. ”
Donnelly said he was endorsed by a Hollywood actor “who was a left winger until he met me,” Rob Schneider.
