You're Out

The numbers reported by the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters paint a pretty bleak picture for the Penman clan.  San Bernardino City Attorney Jim Penman is on the verge of being recalled.  In the first report of absentees, he was down significantly and the first update of the night showed little change.

His wife, who has presided over a decaying school district for seemingly ever, was a solid third place when the absentee report came out.  She is now holding on to a very narrow third place spot and I suspect she will lose when the final votes are tallied.  But it will be close.

The voters are clearly demanding change in San Bernardino.  But they are not throwing the baby out with the bathwater.  Valdivia in the south end of the city, who has barely even taken a seat on the council and has no responsibility for any of the shenanigans that have brought the city to bankruptcy, is being given a vote of confidence by the voters.

McCammack will be in a runoff for the mayoral race…but her odds of winning are slim considering the fact that she is being ousted by her base.  She is losing the recall vote and will run citywide for mayor as she watches her home front burn.

UPDATE: Odd. When I posted this the next update was supposed to occur at midnight.  Now it says the next update is at 4 am and the results appear unchanged and all the precincts are in.  It is quite possible that Judi Penman will retain her seat.
