The Monday meeting of the San Bernardino City Council was quite eventful.

It was the first meeting following the resignation of Fifth Ward Council Member Chas Kelley, who pleaded guilty to felony perjury last week, and the filing of charges, against Third Ward Council Member Robert Jenkins, by the Riverside County District Attorney.

My wife and I spent the weekend in New York and New Jersey, where our bright, beautiful niece got married to a nice Jewish “Google dude.”

It was your basic turn-around trip: Leave Friday, return Monday. The logistics made our heads spin and our butts numb. They also reminded me how unique and, in some ways, exclusive, this part of the country really is.
