Tuesday is a special Election Day in the Pomona-to-Fontana 52nd Assembly District, where nine candidates are on the ballot: seven Democrats, a Republican and a no-party preference.

The race has gotten a lot more interesting in its closing days. Apparently spooked by private polling, Democrats and their allies have poured money into a district that President Barack Obama carried by a 2-to-1 margin last fall.
