SAN BERNARDINO – Presiding Judge Marsha Slough gave her State of the San Bernardino County Courts address Thursday, the same day Governor Jerry Brown announced a new state budget that could allocate $60 million to trial courts.

During her address Slough said there was good news and bad news for San Bernardino County based on the budget.

The good news is that the county could receive about $6 million from the allocation toward their large deficit. The bad news is that the additional funds would still leave the county with a multi-million dollar hole.

Slough said they have slashed the original deficit of $22 million in half over the last several months through major cuts to the court system. The proposed $6 million would reduce it again to a $5 million deficit.
