SPRING VALLEY LAKE • Health care, national security and taxes were topics high on the list Friday as the Spring Valley Lake Country Club hosted a Q&A with Rep. Paul Cook on issues of interest to his High Desert constituents.

Nearly 50 guests, including local elected officials and business leaders throughout the Victor Valley, met with Cook, R-Yucca Valley, to discuss such topics as the Affordable Care Act, National Security Agency activities, Sequestration impacts, and dealing with an ever-changing tax code.

David Greiner, former chairman of the board for the Victor Valley Chamber of Commerce, asked Cook about the importance of working with opposing views when attempting to achieve successful legislative actions.

“How helpful would it be for us to reach out to people we may not agree with … going out and reaching out to the other side as constituents?” asked Greiner.
