RANCHO CUCAMONGA — Rancho Cucamonga is waiting for approval from the California Department of Finance to use $31 million in bonds to begin construction on improvements to the Base Line Road and 15 Freeway interchange.

The two unfinished city redevelopment projects waiting to receive funding include the interchange and a city maintenance yard project at Ninth and Hellman avenues.

The city has already spent $11 million on design work, and is expecting an additional $8 million in federal funds for the project.

As part of the interchange, a new offramp would be moved west, closer to residential properties, while a new onramp from Base Line to the 15 would be built where the offramp exists northwest of the intersection of East Avenue and Base Line.

The project would also have additional east and west lanes to Base Line.
