California Supreme Court

Sunday, March 17, 2013 – 12:30 p.m.

The California Attorney General has filed its Opening Brief on the Merits in its appeal of the dismissal of key charges in the well-published criminal case stemming from the $102 million settlement between San Bernardino County and Colonies Partners L.P. in 2006, some six and one-half years ago.

In an effort to provide greater transparency to our readers and the legal community, and to also provide clarity to incomplete newspaper stories, the full brief has been made available.

In its filing, the prosecution essentially begs the state’s highest court to overturn not one, but two of its own legal case precedents. Those being People v. Wolden and People v. Clapp.

The defense’s response is due no later than April 13, 2013.
