The sky is falling! The sky is falling!
According to the Obama administration the some $85 billion in federal budget cuts set to take effect on March 1 is the end of the world.
Yes, closed airports, no one guarding the border, no more military, no more aircraft carriers, layoffs, a worsening economy, fire, brimstone, cats sleeping with dogs, etc…..etc…..
The rhetoric is nauseating.
Why? Because the dollar amount is laughable, because current federal spending is at a record $3.6 trillion.
The bottom line? This fight is more about President Barack Obama getting or not getting his way.
A little more than a year ago, President Obama professed he would veto any bill, passed by Congress, that would cancel the aforementioned sequester cuts. Now he’s demanding those very same cuts be put off, and that Congress should agree to more tax increases.
Yes, tax increases!
Most workers just absorbed a 2% increase in the payroll tax last month, in addition to higher taxes on the wealthy. Now the President wants more.
It’s no secret that government spends way too much.
It’s time to cut.
