In 2009, Riverside County furloughed workers and closed non-emergency offices on Fridays to cut costs in the face of gaping budget deficits.

The furloughs are over. But a number of county departments remain shuttered on Fridays, including most Board of Supervisors’ offices, the department responsible for processing building permits and workforce development centers. The County Administrative Center in downtown Riverside is closed to the public on Fridays.
