State Assemblyman Curt Hagman (R-Chino Hills) has gained a path to become chairman of the San Bernardino County Republican Central Committee next week, courtesy of current Chairman Robert Rego.
Rego has withdrawn his candidacy for reelection. He will now perform an undisclosed role at the state party level.
Private vote tallying, within the committee, had Rego with roughly 26 votes. A number that would have secured him another term.

Our respect, and hats off to Mr. Rego for doing what was best, in the long, for our party.
We will not miss him because we will have him around, as it should be!
“in the long RUN” sorry
It appears that Hagman will have a challenger after-all. Hagman cleared the field when he had little shot of beating Rego. Now he has a real opponent…..to be announced soon!
Bring him on, we are ready.
Yes, we know Bill Postmus is pulling out all the stops for Hagman.

@hello
If you know who the challenger is, spit it out or say nothing! If it’s a “secret” -which I doubt, then keep it to yourself.
What is Bill Postmus so afraid of? You sure seem to be worried. Since you boys had to buy off or threaten Rego, it will be fun on Thursday! Maybe you can bring Postmus to advocate for your boy.
Hagman is, after all, Postmus’ Bail Bondsman!
If Hagman’s character is what you allude to, then it’s all on Brulte, if Hagman will cause only resentment and division, again it’s on Brulte, he hand picked him and should have vetted him in an honest manner, and for the good of all the SBGOP members. Vetting does not consist of passing as faithful loyal boy/girlfriend test!
Perhaps we are better off with Rego, there is no gun to his head, and this crazy talk about how donors will not donate under Rego is absurd! Maybe Rego should call their bluff, after all Rego has been an honest, dedicated, and upfront loyal Republican.
If Rego is entrusted to make the final sales pitch on Brulte to the state party, then why isn’t Rego good enough to stay as Brultle’s right had man and remain chairman? Rego is an honorable man, and new a chairman with baggage will only bring disorder and justifiable anger, bringing the SBGOP down.
What is the matter with Brulte? He sabotages his golden opportunities at every turn!!
What has saved him thus far is that, like a cat, he has nine lives… but is on number EIGHT! He is like a CHILD that needs constant supervision and knuckles to the head!
Things don’t just fall on Brulte’s lap, yes he is sharp and has had the best mentors ambitious politicians, like himself, only dream about, nothing was handed, he fought his way to the top of the heap… STILL he manages to make bonehead and selfish SELF-CENTERED moves and decisions based solely on “friendships” (along with their rotten baggage)and with TOTAL DISREGARD of how it may unsettle, affect, contaminate, or derail the rest of the team. I don’t like to share songs, but maybe Brulte might learn something from Greg Devereaux’s theme song.
