UPLAND – City Councilman Gino Filippi will meet with friends and supporters for a late New Year’s lunch and discussion of public safety, housing and economic development.
The reception will be at 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch at 12:15 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Magic Lamp Inn, 8189 Foothill Blvd. in Rancho Cucamonga.
Co-hosting the event with Filippi will be San Bernardino County Supervisors Gary Ovitt and Janice Rutherford; Upland Councilman Brendan Brandt; Tommy Morrow, Publisher Inland Valley News; former Upland Police Chief Martin Thouvenell; Richard Lewis of the Lewis Operating Corporation in Upland; Dr. Mark Comunale and Dr. Peter White.
“This is an excellent opportunity to meet and discuss issues that concern residents and local business owners as well as meet the new owners of the Magic Lamp Inn,” Filippi said in a news release.

One issue that concerns Upland businesses is having city councilmembers who support “local” businesses. Seems strange that Filipi chose to hold his meeting in Rancho instead of supporting an Upland restaurant.
Mr Darryl,
Nothing “strange” about the Magic Lamp Inn. There is no restaurant facility large enough in Upland to seat 50 to 60 guests for such a luncheon program as Jan 24th. The Magic Lamp Inn is now owned by the same group who owns Aria in downtown Upland.
