A 2% pay cut is in the works for all private sector and most government workers, all courtesy of the fiscal cliff bill enacted yesterday. (Some government workers in certain pension systems don’t pay into social security.)

U.S. Representative John Boehner (R-Ohio) easily won reelection as Speaker of the U.S. House of Represenattives Thursday morning.

Boehner received 220 votes. Nancy Pelosi (D-California) received 191.

Congressman Eric Cantor (R-Virginia) received 3 votes.

Gov. Brown pushed through legislation that cuts and caps public pensions for new employees, making a fix-it-to-save-it argument while bypassing the bargaining usually demanded by his labor allies for benefit changes.
