RANCHO CUCAMONGA – The civil trial between Lanny Swerdlow, a medical marijuana advocate, and Paul Chabot, the founder and president of the Coalition for a Drug Free California, has been postponed until next year.
A judge continued the readiness hearing Friday morning to accommodate Chabot’s defense lawyer, Andrew Haynal, who is tied up with other criminal matters through the rest of the year and not available to start trial next week.
A new trial readiness hearing is scheduled for Feb. 8, despite an objection by Swerdlow who said the proceedings have gone on too long.
Swerdlow was found not guilty in 2008 after he was accused a year earlier of battery against Chabot at meeting in Rancho Cucamonga.
In 2010 Swerdlow filed malicious prosecution charges against Chabot for filing the false assault claim, which is why the two are in court.
“I understand Mr. Swerdlow’s frustrations,” Haynal said outside the courtroom. “This has been going on for two years.”
During the hearing Swerdlow, of Palm Springs, informed Judge Ben T. Kayashima that he plans to represent himself because he could not find a lawyer.
“You don’t know how to do that,” Kayashima said regarding Swerdlow’s decision.
“I’ll do the best I can,” Swerdlow responded.

What can be worse than a former druggy, Chabot, to tell the world of the evils of a safe medication wildly used by Vietnam and Iraqi veterans for a multitude of ills, injuries, pain and PTSD.

Chabot, as Guest Speaker, had the power of the MIC, the FLOOR, the FULL AUDIENCE’S ATTENTION, and therefore the MOST INFLUENCE!
Chabot should have let Lanny Swerdlow into the room, let him pass out his “medical” marijuana propaganda……and then LET HIM HAVE IT with the MIC!
Chabot could have used Lanny’s own literature as an example of how DANGEROUS the “Medical” marijuana advocates are as they spread LIES and MYTHS to our youth and communities. He could have pointed out how “harmless” Lanny Swedlow LOOKED, but he carried a deceptive message in order to PROFIT from selling marijuana….etc, etc,
So next time, Mr. Chabot, welcome the clowns in, and dispel myths about “medical” marijuana TO THEIR FACE pointing out their lies and harmful message to our youth and communities…toe to toe…AND THEN TELL THEM AT THE END TO NOT LET THE DOOR HIT THEM ON THEIR WAY OUT…

Truth is…..chabot filed false charges against swerdlow,chabot had his day in court…..swerdlow by jury,was found innocent of the charges chabot brought.

“about filing false charges against someone” – NOT “false”- if Mr. Chabot felt threatened and afraid of what this crazed NUT might do later, to him or the audience, he had every right to call the police! It was the the District Attorney’s office who upon receiving the police report found enough grounds to file the charges.
“are you saying swerdlow should not have his day in court?” You know I did not say that, even crazy fools have that right.
Lanny Swerdlow goes around aggressively starting trouble; typical liberal, imposing his WARPED views and forcefully wanting to shove them down our throat- whether we believe in them or not…damn…even God doesn’t force us to believe in him, and gave us the freedom to believe or not…but this Lanny weasel feels superior and wants to STORM IN AND DEMAND THAT HIS BELIEFS BE FORCED ON A GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO DID NOT INVITE HIM, DO NOT WANT TO HEAR IT, DO NOT BELIEVE IT’S OKAY TO MAKE MARIJUANA ACCESSIBLE TO OUR YOUTH .

Mr. Hunter refuses to see the horror, and defends, a drug that robs many of their lives: dulls and numbs their spirit, kills any motivation to participate in life or to help others, makes one selfish and unproductive, lazy and weak minded.

Bottom line…chabot lied,the jury said so by a margin of 12-0 to find swerdlow innocent of chabots false charges.chabot motivation? Well it brought chabot a lot of media attention at the time of his failed attemp for the assembly seat.

Chabot may not be all that tactful or experienced (and less arrogance would help him) but his cause is true to his heart, for the best interest of our community, and his intentions are good.
So what if his Assembly attempt failed, at least he attempted, rather than sitting around getting high…and the more attention he gets on his fight against numbing the life out of our youth the better!
