U.S. Representatives Mary Bono Mack (R-Palm Springs) and Joe Baca (D-Rialto), two veteran members of Congress, lost their re-election bids Tuesday night.
Baca, a victim of redistricting and a poor choice, was defeated by State Senator Gloria Negrete-McLeod (D-Chino).
Bono Mack was defeated by Raul Ruiz (D-Palm Springs) in a hotly-contested race.
Baca could have possibly found an easier path by running in CD 31, but instead elected CD 35.
In other developments, Riverside County Supervisor John Tavaglione lost his bid to represent CD 41 to Mark Takano, while Republican Congressman Ken Calvert easily won reelection in CD 42.
Congressman Ed Royce also easily won another term.
