ONTARIO – With days left before the election, Congressman Joe Baca is hoping to convince voters ad buys from his opponent’s super PAC are distorted lies.
Standing behind a podium at his reelection office Rep. Baca responded to television advertising and campaign mailers launched by a super PAC formed by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Bloomberg’s Independence USA Super PAC has spent an $2.35 million on a television ad buy on behalf of state Sen. Gloria Negrete-McLeod, who is running against Baca for the newly drawn 35th Congressional District.
One of the ads reads, “Congressman Baca voted to allow sex offenders and suspected terrorist to bring concealed weapons into California.”
“Doesn’t Mayor Michael Bloomberg have more important things to worry about than an congressional district in California?” Baca said at the conference.
“I think all of this money would better be spent on hurricane victims …This is a disgusting last minute attempt to deceive the voter as we near the elections.”
“What bothers me is every candidate is saying they’re the small business candidate… and I’m a small business owner and Congressman Baca has always been there for small business owners,” said Frank Montes, a Colton resident.
