Is the Presidential race breaking out?
The answer is it very well could be!
Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has opened up a 52% to 45% lead over President Barack Obama in the Gallup seven day tracking poll of likely voters.
A seven percentage point lead.
For the first time one candidate has eclipsed the 50% threshold in Gallup’s likely voter polling. An important event in the campaign.
In the Rasmussen Three-Day Tracking Poll of likely voters, Romney is leading 49% to 47%.
In the Investor’s Business Daily/TIPP six-day Tracking poll of voters, Romney as climbed into a tie with the President at 46%.
Romney has established clear momentum, with polling samples taken after the Vice-Presidential and second Presidential debates now being added into the weighting.
If the trend continues one can expect the most battleground states to follow suit.

Most of the woment responding are fed up with Mitt. He has managed to alienate so many groups of voters that only the die hard republicans will vote for him.
I was astonished that hardly anyone had a kind word for this man. The basic complaint was that he was out of touch with most of us. WHite male protestants and white male moromons are no longer the majority. Wake up Mittens, we are no longer in the 1950s
I think the NY Times is out of touch with most of Americans. Romney is ahead, no questions about that. Just accept it.

@11 Romney isn’t running away from his record. His terms as Governor of Mass was very successful, he touted them during the debate. It is Obama that is running from his record as fast as he can….unfortunately, it is hanging on like toilet paper to his shoe and he cannot escape.
