After a bitterly fought June primary campaign, San Bernardino County Supervisor Neil Derry and challenger James Ramos are ready to battle again in the Nov. 6 election.

According to the article, “two significant Derry financial supporters — the unions representing sheriff’s deputies and public attorneys — cited the plea deal as their reason for switching support to Ramos.”
I’m glad they cleared that up for us; I had thought it was a result of Mr. Derry’s insistence that these unions start exhibiting fiscal responsibility and face reality like the rest of us have had to do in a dismal economy.
Why would anyone vote for a casino boss who pays no taxes, is pretty stupid, is a failed businessman and is a tool of others? Just askin.
@2 Anon
They are uninformed…no other reason
#2 – people are enticed by casino money or have received “donated” money from san manual and now dependent on ramos’ “donations.”
Anonymous # 3:
May I respectively suggest another reason?
They have been brainwashed by the local media coverage of the selective prosecution of Neil Derry.
Most uninformed voters think Ramos is a Republican.
why then did dutton endorse ramos?
In discussing his 2 restaurants, James Ramos is quoted as saying “I’m still there as a small business owner, weathering the storm, creating jobs.”
I wonder if he would still be “weathering the storm” if he was not receiving over $1,000,000 per year in casino profits.
It’s hard to imagine any bank or other lender like other “small business owners” have to use providing financial support to somebody so that they can “weather the storm,” particularly when they have already shut down 50% of their business ventures.
@ 7: Very simple. Dutton endorsed Ramos because of Gaming $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Just like political whore Paul Cook.
@7
#9 is correct, same reason others endorsed Ramos, a man they had NEVER heard of in the San Bernardino POLITICAL circles, his ONLY claim to fame is that, until recently, he had been the Chief (President) of a sovereign tribal nation, The San Manuel Band of Serrano Mission Indians.
Other “supporters” of Ramos,in exchange for money in the form of donations or political contributions, or a future “vote” in favor of their business are:
U.S. Congressman Jerry Lewis
Yucaipa City Councilman Greg Bogh
Redlands Mayor Peter Aguilar
Yucca Valley Town Mayor Pro Tem Isaac Hagerman
Rick Roelle
Janice Rutherford
Dana & Simeon Prophet, Realtors, Big Bear Lake RE/MAX
Ed Roski, President & Chairman of the Board, Majestic Realty Co.
George H. Schnarre, Realtor
Richard Young, Supervising Deputy District Attorney
Dr. Berin Gilfillan, Pastor, International School of Ministry
Pastor Deborah Cobrae, Sr. Pastor, Rock & World Outreach Center
Michael Stoffel, Realtor
Linda Ricchiuti, Business Owner, Copper Q
Well of course Ramos is a big dumb oaf. A vote for him is a vote for more corruption. No doubt about it.
