Well it didn’t take long for the race to represent the 31st Congressional District to go negative.
Seven-term Congressman Gary Miller (R-Rancho Cucamonga) took a hefty blow at State Senator Bob Dutton (R-Rancho Cucamonga) this week.
Miller slammed fellow Republican Dutton for voting to approve several unbalanced budgets and falling asleep on the job.
Yes, I really mean falling asleep.
It seems someone snapped a photo of Dutton sleeping in the Senate chamber during a budget session.
Now that photo has landed in voter mailboxes.

I haven’t received anything negative on Gary Miller in the mail thus far, not even about his open FBI investigation for tax evasion nor the Rialto airport. Come on Dutton, unload Gary’s dirty laundry!
Bob Dutton never went negative he simply pointed out that Miller did not live in the district he was running in. That’s not negative campaigning, that’s fact, and the fact that Miller staffers are trying to spin this off as Dutton got dirty first is frankly laughable.
Do your own homework. I believe all the debates were recorded and posted online. Dutton never “bashed” Miller in any debates, any mail pieces, or in the press, and it is completely dishonest to asset anything otherwise.
Also another factual error to clean up, Dutton was not asleep during session. That picture was taken during the 30 hours budget session when members of the legislature were locked in overnight. That picture was taken at 4 in the morning while they were on recess. Everyone was sleeping, and Miller trying to take it out of context to paint an inaccurate picture of our hometown Senator is both disgusting and saddening. Gary, those tactics may work in Orange County, but they won’t work here!
