In a surprise move Friday, the San Bernadino County District Attorney’s Office dropped its case, consisting of a single count of possession of child pornography, against former Democratic Party operative Sam Clauder.

The case was dismissed in the interest of justice.

Deputy District Attorney Maryanne Choi made the motion in front of Superior Court Judge Glenn Yabuno.

Clauder, who has steadfastly maintained his innocence, was represented by Riverside-based attorney Rajan Maline.
