From left to right. San Bernardino County Supervisor Janice Rutherford, State Senator Bob Dutton, Congressman Jerry Lewis, State Senator Bill Emmerson, and Assemblyman Paul Cook.
Tuesday, September 18, 2012 – 10:45 a.m.
When there’s money or revenge in it, there’s five Inland Empire republicans that’ll be there with a knife in their hand or their hand out.
If it involves trying to torch another republican over a democrat so be it.
Just show them the money.
Whether it’s for revenge, or sucking up for cash, this little clan has shown their true colors.
Second District Supervisor Janice Rutherford (R-Fontana), State Senator Bob Dutton (R-Rancho Cucamonga), Congressman Jerry Lewis (R-Redlands), State Senator Bill Emmerson (R-Hemet) and State Assemblyman Paul Cook (R-Yucca Valley) have endorsed San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Tribal Member James Ramos, a lifelong democrat, over Third District Supervisor Neil Derry (R-Redlands).
A democrat who opposes pension reform, is heavily backed by unions, and supports Proposition 30, a measure to raise taxes on Californians that he himself won’t have to pay.
While the motives of these politicos somewhat vary, it’s still a disgrace.
To top it off, Dutton and Cook are currently vying for seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Does anyone believe the republican leadership in the House wants these two clowns there?
Not a chance.
Sources tell InlandPolitics.com that Washington D.C. republicans look at the Inland Empire as a cocktail party joke.
Well considering the track record of washed-up Lewis can anyone blame them?
Recently released documents show Lewis, who was the target of a long-running federal investigation, narrowly escaped a federal indictment for Honest Services Fraud over earmarking a couple years ago.
House republicans essentially showed Lewis the door, when they denied him another round as chair of Appropriations.
He will retire this year.
It’s widely-known Lewis has disliked Derry ever since he defeated his pal Former Supervisor Dennis Hansberger.
Now we have Dutton, the brainiac of this bunch.
Dutton supported Ramos in the primary, all while the San Manuels were funding his opponent Mayor Pete Aguilar (D-Redlands).
His excuse is his wife is Ramos’ cousin. However sources say he would have endorsed Derry, but was pissed-off when Derry endorsed Dutton opponent Congressman Gary Miller (R-Diamond Bar) in CD 31.
Cook’s motivation is the cash. He was a June primary election beneficiary of $75,000 in independent expenditures courtesy of the San Manuels.
He now faces Tea Party Republican Greg Imus in CD 8.
Rutherford, who’s known for not being too bright, recently supported a measure to cap campaign contributions at $3,900 per election cycle. Now she’s holding a $5,000 level fundraising event, and is of course seeking dough from the San Manuel’s.
Her shelf-life on the board is the remaining two years of her term.
Emmerson, who has received support from the Tribe, is just in it for the cash. Emmerson answers to District Attorney Mike Ramos, a Ramos backer, who has him by the throat.
While this unsavory type of politics creates obstacles for Derry, recent credible polling, by a well-respected firm, shows Ramos well below 50%, with one-third of his support soft.
This contest, now that it’s head-to-head, will be interesting to say the least.
Republicans supporting a democratic candidate who portrays himself as a successful small businessman, even though he can’t even run a coffee shop, let alone a county.
I have a feeling that many of Ramos’s false statements to voters in June are about to come back and haunt him.

You left Miller off the list, he claims to work in conjunction with Baca ( according to a statement he made in the paper), he voted for corporate welfare, specifically taking about export import bank. I can’t believe a republican would vote for legilation thats takes tax payer money to support offshore companies that cannt get financial support from the banks….to make it worst, these companies have failed leaving the tax payers with the mistake. At least the above republicans can cross party lines to make things happen, such as Amazon.com and not just “try and talk about it” like that republican that was not mentioned.
Refer to 1: It’s one thing to “work with Baca”, it is completely different to ENDORSE him over another Republican which is exactly what these Rinos did….
Rutherford is the brightest Supervisor our County has ! Leave her alone !!!
@3
Yeah, she is SOOOO bright she follows a charlatan, who MADE A BET he could start a religion because there were sooo many ignorant people who were too lazy to look up information to see if things were true or not… Oh and Smith also “instructed them to bring salvation to Native Indians”
I guess Smith WON THE BET!
Or was it Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard that made THE BET??
RON L. HUBBARD/JOHN SMITH….same thing!!!!!!!!!!
Well, well Rutherford had been teaming up with, and backing, Neil Derry on his tough stand on issues facing our county.
Rutherford even praised Derry’s admirable unceasing efforts to do away with corruption and better San Bernardino County for all to work and raise our families.
But in a drop of a dime (or a million dimes) she endorsed Ramos after “his people” approached her offering his support with her re-election in two years. Rutherford, BEING BRIGHT, wanted proof, so to show her Ramos could put his money where his mouth was- they suggested she hold a fundraiser; Ramos would then assure those tickets would SELL FAST TO A SELL OUT CROWD. Some would say Rutherford sold her soul to the devil.
Hmmm, lets see, if Janice is as “bright” as #3 would like us to believe, then she MUST be informed of the fact that James Ramos is a fraud. A groomed candidate for the well known Mexican mafia cartels in order for him to clear the way, outside the reservation, for their expansion in drug trafficking. Still, fully aware of Ramos’ ties with the Mexican mafia, money bought Rutherford’s heart, and tilted her judgment, and endorsed Ramos.
Murder-for-hire case involving Mexican Mafia, San Manuel tribal members…
The Press-Enterprise By MICHELLE DeARMOND and JOHN F. BERRY, 04/17/2008
Two San Manuel tribal members and a purported Mexican Mafia kingpin pleaded guilty Thursday in a murder-for-hire case. Salvador Hernandez, a 43-year-old Bloomington resident identified by authorities as a Mexican Mafia leader, agreed to a 10-year prison sentence. He received five years for attempted murder and another five years for criminal gang activity. The tribal members, Stacy Cheyenne Barajas-Nunez, 25, and her brother Erik Barajas, 35, signed deals that will allow them to remain at home and be monitored electronically. Barajas-Nunez agreed to a 365-day home detention sentence and her brother agreed to 180 days along with multiple other conditions.
and…
Greg Vojtko / The Press-Enterprise
Law enforcement agencies seized 56 guns, about $1 million worth of methamphetamine and almost $1 million in cash in a raid on what officials call an arm of the Mexican mafia.
Working with federal Drug Enforcement Administration agents, more than 400 police officers from throughout the Inland region served 43 search warrants on suspected Mexican Mafia and gang members early Tuesday.
They seized 56 guns, about $1 million worth of methamphetamine and nearly that much in cash, while also making 19 arrests. Among those booked were two brothers dubbed “shot callers” in the Mexican Mafia, and six others from the organization’s top, officials said……
That amount of manpower was necessary, officials said, because greater San Bernardino has become a hub for nationwide methamphetamine distribution.
@nuts, what about his policy, showing up to work and not sticking to conservative financial policy? Get your facts right or you must be part of the 151.8 million “non tax payers” that don’t pay their taxes, since that is that probably the case….then your comment was appropriate.
At least Ruthaford isn’t under investigation yet.
@ so-called Republican….To what do you refer, give specifics..oh, you don’t have any. Derry was the first Sup ever to cut the boards bennies. He held departments like planning and the DA to task for their budget gaffes. He forced the former planning director’s retirement Julie Rock, for running the planning department into the ground. He did the same to Mike Ramos girlfriend in the Public Defender’s office.
Rutherford is nothing but a shill, and a dumb one at that.
NUTS IS CORRECT.
To work with “is completely different” than to ENDORSE!

@#7
Janice Rutherford is one of those “polished” and “refined” politicians I spoke earlier about that are GOOD FOR NOTHING other than to smile and LOOK THE PART.
With Rutherford, we don’t need an “INVESTIGATION” to conclude she has let us all down.
I read somewhere, that Miller didn’t show up to work/vote roughly around 60 or 40% of the time few years back. Please tell me how that is “working with” anyone, rep or Dem? At least the above politicians show up to vote and represent their districts.
“I read somewhere” YEAH SURE…THESE ARE SHARON GILBERT’S SAME WORDS AND FALSE ACCUSATIONS!
If I didn’t show up 65.5% of the time, I would of been fired. @ houseofrepublicanscandal, nice find. Here is what you read: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/gary_miller/400277
I thought Gary Miller was under long time federal investigation, I didn’t know Lewis was too? That’s disappointing whereas, I am a supporter for Jerry Lewis.
I read that Cook has the lead over Imus, I guess the Tea Party ways are too conservative for the 8th congressional district! Let’s the games being in District 8! Let’s go Cook!
# 3: HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA….she’s a stupid, ignorant pig. A turncoat RINO. Will never get my vote again for any office.
@11, Where? You are must be getting Miller mixed up with your boy Obama…No wonder you support Rutherford…
@nuts, actually reference the link http://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/gary_miller/400277. #11 is actually right, Obama and Miller OUT! Cook and Dutton in!
@Mary
That same link you provided also mentions, under their “Numerical methods…”:
“The process DOESN’T look at the CONTENT of the bills or the party affiliation or anything else about the Members of Congress”.
As we know, thousands of bills are presented from LABOR UNIONS, FARM LOBBIES, ENVIRONMENTALIST, TEACHERS’ UNIONS and on and on…not to mention the pork barrel projects.
Seems that Miller was familiar with the self serving bills being presented and chose wisely to instead put his time and energy back home to deal with his district’s issues.
We already have too many drunks in Congress…..Go Miller and Imus!
@ #3 ANONYMOUS
WHAT?! Good grief..where do you get Janice is bright?
Janice endorses James Ramos and gives the SOLE REASON being because,
“He is a small business owner who knows how to create jobs and balance the books.”
HMMM, REALLY?
Did “BRIGHT” Janice bother to inform herself on what kind of a “BUSINESSMAN” James Ramos actually was? Oh, That’s right, it didn’t matter to her- CLOSED COFFEE SHOPS/DRUG TRAFFICKING PROFITS, WHATS THE DIFFERENCE WHERE THE MONEY COMES FROM – RIGHT JANICE?
LET US REFRESH “BRIGHT” JANICE’S MEMORY ON WHAT KIND OF A “BUSINESSMAN” JAMES RAMOS IS…perhaps this way she’ll THINK before she speaks.
http://inlandpolitics.com/blog/2011/07/24/inlandpolitics-he-cant-run-a-coffee-shop-but-wants-to-run-a-county/#more-27116
He doesn’t even participate in district events, so save yourself they bs and lies. We also do not need anymore corrupt politicians in office either.
I don’t see the problem, these are the cream of the crop as far as republicans go, what did you expect?
Repairman: You mean they cream their pants for campaign contributions from San Manuel…..Each of these bums have been sucking at the tit of government for decades…They are part of the dying old guard who can’t figure out they are done. Putting up a liberal Democrat against Derry is the best they could do? They are all bought and paid for with casino cash…
WHAT IS CONGRESSMAN JERRY LEWIS KNOWN FOR BACK IN HIS HOME DISTRICT?
“Putting up a LIBERAL Democrat against Derry”
Yes, that’s right…sorry, I’ve heard all the whispering, what a shameful WASTE having kept him around for so damn long!
Redlands needs to make sure to BLACK OUT HIS NAME the second he retires- or how about starting today!
And like the true COWARD, Congressman Lewis is- on his way out the BACK door Lewis made a CALCULATED move to SPIT on the face of his fellow REPUBLICANS in San Bernardino County…
…who are now left to pick up the feces, I mean pieces, Lewis has made of the Republican party in San Bernardino.
We may see him, shake his hand and SMILE out of politeness, but the truth is, Lewis’ betrayal has left behind a SCANDAL full of bitterness, confusion, and a very real HATRED for this pathetically dishonest and finished man- strike “man.”
The Hansburgerler’s picture should go right along side these RINO’s!
Janice “The Reformer” had the ex-Supervisor turned Ramos supporter on her Blue Ribbon Committee for ethics reform, what a joke.
Maybe James Ramos can run a JACK-N-THE-BOX on the RES once he gets trounced in November… and take those EVT cards at the drive through for all the Casino crowd, that way you will guarantee a successful business venture.
Or maybe another Yum-Yum?
James says: ME Likem DoNUTS in November with these voters… yo’ Mikey, I don’t like Life (not cereal) anymore, but aren’t U A RINO 2?
On second thought, pictures of The Hansburgerler and DA Mikey of the Ramos Bros. need to be added to the RINO WALL of SHAME!
This blog/article is ridiculous and is the exact reason why in November Derry is going to be wiped clean from the political landscape along with Mitt Romney. Republicans have become a fragmented bickering lot of old ladies sucking down the propaganda that Limbaugh (and locally Erwin)hastily and bitterly brew in the deepest privies of their pornographic minds. So long GOP! You have been more trouble than you have been worth.
Nuts # 22:
That’s exactly what I mean, they are classic republicans. They’ll do anything, say anything, promise anything and then do whatever is best for themselves and their cronies with an absolutely screw the public attitude.
Hey Red, welcome back!
This article can’t be ALL that bad, it brought you back.
I don’t agree with you, I happen to like this article.
But it’s good to see that nice shade of red, unlike me, you wear it well.
@ Red
“Republicans have become a fragmented bickering lot” you say?
You are correct!
EXACTLY my point about Congressman JERRY LEWIS…that is his legacy. He turned out to be a wicked man creating chaos, confusion, and leaving the SBGOP “fragmented,” with total disregard to the future condition of the party for our children and grandchildren…and leaving our youth to the mercy of the liberal Democrats- who LEWIS HIMSELF has publicly ENDORSED and made a PERSONAL COMMITMENT to help get ELECTED!
For a perfect example of the DECLINE, DIVISIVENESS, and INTERNAL CONFLICT Lewis has brought the SBGOP, all one has to do is point at ANTHONY RICE, a young republican running for Rancho Cucamonga city council.
At SBGOP meetings RICE is loud, talks over others, unwilling to listen to others, he is always right, talks out of order repeatedly, juvenile, runs around foolishly with a camera intimidating and threatening fellow republicans that do not see things HIS WAY! He likes to brag it’s his “constitutional right” to be this disruptive and out of order–beware– he plans to bring this type of loud chaos to the RC city council.
RICE HAS FOLLOWED JERRY LEWIS’ EXAMPLE, HE TOO, THUMBS HIS NOSE AT HIS FELLOW COUNTY REPUBLICANS and is only out for HIMSELF.
San Bernardino County is void of a beloved and respected republican leader.
Please do not forget Rod Hoops (republican) is also backing James Ramos.
