InlandPolitics: It’s official! Romney clinches Republican nomination

It’s official!

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney clinched the Republican nomination for President of the United States just a little before 6 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday evening.

Romney will officially accept the nomination, at the Republican National Convention, just after 10 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursday evening.

Senate Leader Darrell Steinberg, D-Sacramento, told reporters Monday that he’s “optimistic” that a conference committee on pension reform will vote on a plan Tuesday that saves “tens of billions of dollars” over the next 20 to 30 years.
