SAN BERNARDINO – As employees continue to flee the city before massive layoffs that are expected soon, some say they aren’t sure how they’ll get by without payouts of accrued vacation and sick time they had built up over the course of their careers.

The Washington D.C. watchdog group that six years ago called for an investigation of Rep. Jerry Lewis today released a report critical of the resulting probe, which ended without any charges being filed against the Redlands congressman.

Twenty-seven cities have not forked over all of the redevelopment money the state says they owe, according to Gov. Jerry Brown’s administration.
The state says the cities owe $129 million total, but they’ve only returned $6.7 million.
