Pomierski

It’s a two year federal prison sentence for Former Upland Mayor John “J.P.” Pomierski.
The sentence related to Pomierski’s plea to accepting a $5,000 bribe was handed down by U.S. District Judge Virginia Phillips in Riverside on Monday afternoon.
Pomierski must serve a minimum of just over nineteen months.

How many other bribes did he extract from his victims for which he wasn’t prosecuted?
Start memorizing the recipe for homebrew hooch or the DT’s are going to be rough JP.
@KWB – Good question!
The start of the recall is due to occur in November: Willis is out, Musser is up for re-election. Of the other two, Brant is up in two years, and Fillipi thinks he wants to be mayor. All four of them had at least a small part in enabling JP’s actions. Even Gino was sitting on the council as edgy stuff was going on. The only one clear at this point is Stone.
@uplandobserver – Get your facts straight.
1) Musser is NOT up for “re-election” he was NEVER elected mayor. 2) All four did NOT have “at least a small part in enabling JP’s actions.” 3) By the time Filippi and Stone were sworn in, JP had been under investigation for min 5 years courtesy Police Chief Martin Thouvenell and the FBI. 4) You forgot Tom Thomas.
UO, Councilman Filippi and Councilwoman Stone had ZERO to do with JP’s actions.
I wonder if Jeff Berum, JP’s buddy and partner, is looking at that 2 year sentence and wondering how he’d do in the pen. Jeff’s a lot dirtier than JP and has committed bigger crimes. But, unlike JP he has a million dollar defense team and most importantly, thinks he did no wrong. He’ll bet the bank to save a conviction while all his buddies, Postmus, Erwin, etc go down. Then he’ll walk away from them.
The former mayor of Upland has no one to blame but himself. As for his Council “cronies” they too should pay a price for looking the other way all these years.
Looks like two year sentences will be the common term for those surrounding Burum. JP better get some tips from Rex…..At the very least JP will have a sales position waiting for him when he gets out, courtesy of Burum.
Wow. That Judge Virginia Phillips is real tough. A whole two years. Why with judges like Phillips who needs criminals?
Hey Ano… I bet most of the folks who think 2 years is too short haven’t spent any time locked up. 2 years is longer than it sounds. That’s my 2 cents!
Meeeeowwwwww:
How long were you locked up for. Or are you just talking?
Rep… does it really matter?
Meeeeowwwwww:
Yes it does, your talking like an expert, where did you get your experience? or are you just talking?
Rep… well if you say it matters, then it matters (wink wink). 18 months at white collar camp fed. The same place Pomierski will likely be thinkin.
Meeeeowwwwww:
That wink wink explains your name.
Rep… we may be made for each other?
#17….What’s new pussycat?
Buckmehard!
Where ya been baby?
Meeeeowwwwww :
I think not.
you guys are funny-I’m amused
I am a longtime opponent and critic of JP Pomierski. For a lot of reasons, I was particularly interested in the recent Daily Bulletin article about the sentencing of Upland’s former mayor to two years in federal prison. It looks like the last chapter has finally been written for Pomierski’s political life.
Pomierski liked to push people around, including his fellow council members, and use his position as mayor for personal gain. But Pomierski’s selfish actions resulted in the FBI and federal prosecutors eventually pushing him into a corner from which he could not escape.
It is a mystery to me how the other Upland City Council members looked the other way while Mayor Pomierski ran the city like he was king.
Surely the Upland council members had to know about his shenanigans, but took no action. Stories of his misconduct and asking for money in return for favors were widely circulated.
Well, regardless of what I think, life goes on. My life journey has led me to Reno, Nev. Pomierski’s life journey has led him to prison. Hopefully his stay in prison will give him time to make some changes in his life.

People should not forget JP’s crowning achievement: ousting the twin city managers who loved power even more than JP. Heck, when you think about it, effectively booting those two and eventually getting the rest of the Gang of Five to flee or retire, was definitely a good thing for the city.
However, if you start talking recall on those who shared the dais with him, then be careful because it could filter down to other staff that worked with him, including Dunn and Zwack. You don’t want to turn Upland into a revolving door city, do you?
Hey Peter, who was the finance director during JP’s reign?
They are all dirty. Dunn was finance director for the past 8 years and now all of a sudden Upland is in fiscal crisis, and he didn’t know about Quincey’s misdealings. If he truly didn’t know he should have been fired due to incompetency. If he did know, he should have been fired along with Quincy. But nooooooo, the wisdom of the idiots on the Council promoted him and now has given him a three year contract for running the City’s finances into the ground. And you wonder why Upland is the joke of the IE. Zwack was redevelopment director, how many businesses have failed costing the City hundreds of thousands if not millions (Christophe’s, Boomers etc..). Now Upland has royalty called Mendenhall. Stephenie was City Clerk for JP, how much was she invovled in JP’s underhandness? Jeff basically helped to oust Adam’s as Police Chief and now look where he sits! They are all corrupt. Get rid of them all and start with people that have integrity!!!!! A revolving door is what is needed to clean this house!!!
FedUp… you seem to know it all. Riddle me this… How much $$ did Pomierski and Willis pocket from the settlement (against advice of City lawyers) of the Beck case?
The vocal felon seen out this week running mouth and drinkin it up at local bars. Thataboy!
