…”San Bernardino County Supervisor Josie Gonzales said she wants to see the agency tackle other regional challenges like homelessness and other social services, which often require state and federal grants.”
Stupidity! County government handled social servcies and homeless issue. Why do we have Caltrans?
Why do we have another layer for another bureaucracy that just gave a pension of over $270,0000 to do Central Planning.
Local government has a role and it ought to be consolidation.
States decide the great majority of transporatation funds, keep Measure I, but do this, let BOS and local delegation talk and plan accordingly.
Abolish SANBAG and make BOS/ Caltrans earn their keep. Or for that matter just divy up ALL the Measure I funds to cities. Then Aquanetta can match it with her RDA funds for freeways, nuts!!!!!
Stop SandBAGging the public VIP Josie… SanBAG + SCAG = SCAM.
Tell you what, try and handle the job of TRANSPORTATION PLANNING instead of squandering the GAS TAX Measure I money on pet political projects and graft to your favorite consultants and contractors.
Anon is right, throw the baby out with the bath water on this one. SanBAG needs to stop MISAPPROPRIATING PUBLIC FUNDS and start consolidating their efforts, NOT EXPANDING THEM!
Sorry Mr. Baker, we’ve got a budget crisis in CA, your ass needs to hit the road…
Leave SANBAG alone!!!! Josie like most of her liberal democrat ilk want nothing better than to expand government. Government needs to be downsized it is too big now. Tax and spend. It is all politicians like her know. Next they will hijack all of the transportation sales tax to subsidize buses and trains. Its just another wealth redistribution scheme for her welfare constituents. Keep fixing our freeways. That’s what the people who pay the tax want!
First off we can fire overpaid bureaucrats like mr duane baker. how dare those bastards waste our tax money on worthless taxwasters like SANBAG>
Just another SANBAG, first this guy jumps Caltrans to get paid more to succeed a decent but under-skilled director with no technical skills, like how to build roads, highways and bridges. If you need 29 members to run a govt agency, why have BOS and state legislature and cities with lobbyist?
