SAN BERNARDINO – The first steps toward fixing a shortage of cash that would otherwise leave city employees unpaid on Aug. 15 are scheduled to be decided at a special City Council meeting today.
“I believe the city manager is going to present a short-term cash flow plan to manage the crisis that we’re in at the moment, so we can pay our employees and pay our bills,” said Mayor Pat Morris. “I’m quite confident it’s not going to be the longer term plan with the deep cuts that will be our pendency plan.”
That so-called pendency plan, which is the plan the city will present to the bankruptcy court at the beginning of bankruptcy proceedings and use until it agrees on another plan, will likely be decided at another special meeting within the next month, he said.
No details of the plan to be presented today are expected to be available before the meeting, said Acting Assistant City Manager Gwendolyn Waters.
