San Bernardino County’s largest employee union is teeing up on two county supervisors it believes are unfair towards its members.
Why?
Pension reform.
Supervisors Janice Rutherford and Neil Derry are each in the process of bringing proposals forward, at a special meeting on July 31, in an attempt to gain control of rising pension costs threatening the solvency of the county’s pension system and general fund budget.
The only real effect the proposals would have on existing employees is they would have to pay all of their required employee contribution to the pension system.
Now the San Bernardino Public Employees Association (SBPEA) has posted a tirade on its website.
All this in a county where employees can retire at more than 100% of their base salary.
WOW!
That laughable tirade on their website is unbecoming of PUBLIC EMPLOYEES, and very silly.
WHAT’S WITH THE RED “ALERTS” AND “ATTACK” RANTS?
ONE WORD TO DESCRIBE SEPEA’S REACTION;RIDICULOUS!
No amount of scare tactics will hide their selfish “give me, give me, give me” hungry mentality….

it’s a “give me give me give more MORE of your hard earned tax dollars so I can retire and travel around the world on TAX PAYERS DIME..oh, and I want even MORE so you can pay for my wife and her parents to join us too…oh yeah, and they don’t like three star hotels, they prefer FIVE STAR, so Janice and Neil better cough up MORE tax dollars into our pension funds to cover that…OR ELSE!
PREPARE FOR ACTION on the July 31st BOS Agenda… SBPEA GM Bob Blough to show up in a CHICKEN SUIT!
Blough knows about as much about PUBLIC PENSION REFORM as he does laying eggs… he knows zip (even though he continues to lay eggs in his negotiations with Devilreaux!)
So what Bob, did you coordinate these EMPLOYEE SCARE TACTICS with the Devil and SBPEA VP Saucedo too?
And Super Mario, what happens when the Redlands Wally World Stupidcenter falls flat on its face, and after the Nov. 2010 elections where WalMart Stores, Inc paid over $440K to a PAC made up of the Police/Fire/SBPEA with you playing the role of community activist (more like sell-out)/ city employee?
There needs to be a major shake-up over at SBPEA… cut your losses by firing Blough now, before he makes a fool of himself and all the membership doing his Chicken Man routine for the Devil and Chairwoman VIP-Josie. The rest of the BOS Pussycats are going to be onboard with these reform measures.
Thank you Supervisors Derry and Rutherford, the public needs all of the GOVERNMENT REFORM we can get!

The union website was right about two things. First, Derry is definitely the OUTGOING SUPERVISOR. As in BYE BYE come November. Second, he isn’t willing to cut his own pay and benefits.
Oh this is insane, Pay the 7% contribution, lose the boat, RV or Seadoos. Heard on the street that no one cares to support your pension pirate ways.
Actually, all of the BOS cut their salary, and are paying the “employee” share, along with all the exempt employees.

Why did you have to put San Bernardino County’s largest union SBPEA in the cross-hairs of the political war that has just begun (think about the public opinion come Nov.) over PENSION REFORM (yeah Bob, not your half-baked measure taken from Billy Boy and Sharon for supposed POLITICAL REFORM).
Not only did the Devil of a CEO play a shell-game with SBPEA and SEBA to turn their debate on reform from political to pension, but Devilreaux just used his trump-card, he got the Grand Jury to make a finding against it in their 2012 report!
But didn’t I hear that SEBA got out of the way of this train and just settled on a contract?
TBss for SBPEA, membership has already been hung-out to dry by their Chicken of a GM Blough… that’s what happens when you make a deal with the Devilreaux from the very beginning.

I agree with you regarding Janice Rutherford.
She was up in Lake Arrowhead at a Chamber of Commerce function last month, and I spoke to her for a couple of minutes. I saw absolutely nothing to suggest that she is a “fraud” or “dumb,” as Anonymous #20 contends.
Rather, she seemed quite articulate, and exhibited a sincere interest in what is best for her constituents.
Janice is a fresh of of breath air, you get what you see, how could the county not embrace her.
