Upland City Council members tonight will consider adopting the 2012-13 fiscal year budget.
The budget proposal includes cuts to services and layoffs in the Police Department in order to fill a $3.6 million gap.
Cuts include the elimination of 12 positions in the Police Department, which is expected to save the city $1.5 million. Of the 12 positions, six were unfilled sworn positions and six were non-sworn positions. Five non-sworn employees recently received layoff notices.

These cuts to public safety would not have happened had Marty Thouvenel been elected to Council.
