With San Bernardino County election results certified Friday, Assemblyman Paul Cook (R-Yucca Valley) squeaked by Businessman Phil Liberatore (R-Whittier) and into a runoff with home builder and Tea Party-backed candidate Greg Imus (R-Lake Arrowhead) in the contest to represent the 8th Congressional District.
Cook beat out Phil Liberatore by just over 200 votes.
Cook and Imus will face off in November.

notice administrator neglected to mention by how much Imus led the candidates?
If Liberatore spent $500k to get 15% of the vote, then he’d have to spend $1.65M to get 50% in November.
Would that be money well spent?
Imus’ vote count wont matter…he is a flawed candidate. Just wait until mid-October. It’s a deal-breaker for someone running for any elected office. That’s why everyone wanted him as their opponent this fall.
Gregg Imus has no chance at winning.
Gregg Imus has been extremely impressive. As a complete unknown a few months ago, he nearly came in first. As many people will be further learning about him in the next few months, only a fool would now count him out.
Jan, theres a reason no one brought up Imus past yet…they all wanted to run against him in the general election. His record is indefensible and if the Tea Party overlooks it, they do so at their own peril. The polls showed his rise, they also showed a fatal vulnerability. When you find out about it, you’ll know what I am referring to.
More mystery info that will never come to light.
