It looks as though InlandPolitics.com may have been correct in its assumption last year that $250,000 from the San Manual Band of Mission Indians could influence the endorsement process of the San Bernardino County Safety Employees’ Benefit Association (SEBA).
Contributions totalling $250,000 to SEBA’s political action committee coming directly from the Tribe.
Now SEBA, the union representing sheriff’s deputies, district attorney investigators, probation corrections officers, welfare fraud investigators and deputy coroner investigators, has abandoned it’s $400,000 investment in incumbent San Bernardino County Supervisor Neil Derry, in favor of Tribal Member James Ramos.
SEBA also has approved $50,000 for payment back to Ramos, who blew north of $1,000,000 to face Derry in a November runoff.
Like they say. If it walks like a duck!
Combine this matter with the union’s labor headaches and the mess continues to grow.
If only the union’s rank and file knew what was happening behind their backs.
Anyways, here’s a link to the September 2011 post.

Hey, isn’t funneling campaign funds from the San Manuel Casino to SEBA to Tribal Chairman James Ramos the same thing that they accused Derry of? Except the donation is 10 times bigger!
You can be sure if JAmesCasinomanRamos and the phony mexican indian tribe is involved then it will be corrupt and screwed up. Those filth belong in jail.
HA HA HA HA. No support for Derry. He ought to save face and suspend his campaign or come November he will have egg all over his face. Don’t worry, he can run for San Bernardino mayor or councilman.
I can’t believe Erwin wrote this article. SEBA’s endorsement for sale? Erwin invented that game and nearly ruined SEBA under his leadership. He bought Neil Derry the 3rd District seat when he still had some juice at SEBA. Erwin totally embarrassed SEBA and besides they tired of his heavy-handed style and kicked him to the curb. So Erwin, always enterprising, goes and digs up his new found friend, Jeff Berum, and Jeff goes and buys Neil. Except Jeff didn’t do his due diligence on Neil and was left with egg on his face when both Erwin and Derry get into trouble. Neil up and gets arrested and confesses to a felony. Now how is SEBA going to endorse a criminal like that? Neil has always been for sale for any contribution or a newspaper headline. That’s proven by him selling his political career for hiding a $5000 campaign contribution. What an idiot! Good lord, what a piece of crap this article is! When is Neil going to do the right thing and resign!
Racer,
Nice story. Due diligence.
Don’t use big words you don’t understand.
I don’t know who swiped the name I have used for the last 3 years and posted #5 but you need to come up with your own handle. Not cool.
Racer, you really need to stop lying about,oh, everything.
Racer, SEBA endorsed Rick Roelle since you wish to compare
crooks. If you think you need a conviction or plea to make the
accusation, think again.
What were you thinking when you posted your comments?
SEBA seldom has ALL it’s members in mind when
they make these decisions.
If they had been paying attention the COA might not be here.
True to form what your seeing now is the typical
throw whatever or who ever under the bus.
And let everyone understand that SEBA DID NOT send out ballots
asking members who THEY supported for District Supervisor.
A handful of people made this decision to support Roelle and James
Ramos.
You can bet Mike Ramos and Rod Hoops had their hands in the
cookie jar. So did a few others.
So the masses had NO say so in this freakin circus.
Funny how the lawyers union IS NOT part of this act.
Think they may know something more than SEBA and SBPEA?
They just might.
Racer …………you had it right. The problem is that the truth stings those involved. It’s truly funny that Erwin and all are not happy with the fruitage of the seeds they planted. It’s like when the Mad Scientist creates a frankenstein and it turns around and attacks it’s creator.
#5 I try to avoid the big words so you can participate (is that too big a word)? The bottom line is Derry 32% of the vote as the sitting incumbent and SEBA is smart to be on the winning side of this contest. Don’t care about how SEBA’s process works. Their board or leadership got it right on the 3rd District. Erwin and Berum didn’t. Those two tried to get Stout to run against Mike Ramos! That would have been fun to watch. Neil is still seeing Erwin and listening . Very foolish. Now when is Neil going to throw in the towel and resign? The contest is over. Your boy Derry is done, finished!
Racer: Ramos spent over $1 million, and couldn’t close the deal. And he can’t in November either. Do you think conservative Bagley voters are going to support Democrat Casino Boss Ramos? You are smoking some good shit.
Good to see your looking at just one small piece of the puzzel here Racer.
I bet you don’t care how SEBA’s process works. Got what you wanted nothing else matters, excellent!!!
12,13- You’re right I don’t care how SEBA decided to endorse Ramos. It’s irrelevant to the main issue- Derry’s loss. And most likely you don’t how they arrived at their decision because you’re sitting outside the big boys tent and have no say in the matter at all.
The big issue is that the surveys said and the voters validated that Neil Derry didn’t have a chance in the primary. Neil has terrible negatives in the polls and there isn’t a chance in hell that he can win in November. His negatives-to-positives is very high and for an incumbent that’s deadly. Ramos will spend another million if he has to and he’ll win. And there will be whining and complaining about SEBA, Hoops, and Mike Ramos and every other person or thing that caused Derry to lose.
The Bagley voters were against Derry and because Neil is a Republican also, they should have voted for him, the incumbent. It wasn’t a Republican vs Republican. It was the voters voting against Derry. And they will in November. Republicans are law and order and Neil is a crook in their eyes and they don’t vote for crooks. Rod and Mike will endorse Ramos again also and the voters will take note of that as they did in the primary.
Neil will lose. He needs to resign and prevent any further damage to the office he occupies. Incumbents hold the office for their constituents, not themselves. Neil needs to think of that and not his continued paychecks.
He won’t resign because Irwin is talking him into thinking that he will win in Nov.
He is much too full of debt to resign and the perfect puppet who truly thinks he is smarter then Ramos.
I hope Ramos really goes after him this time and teaches him a lesson in humility.
Ramos is the scum of the earth, a corrupt, filthy, stupid and ignorant fool…being led by the nose by tools. Anyone who supports him is either ignorant or a scumbag.
Racer: Rod Hoops never endorsed Ramos. Show us where he did? Actually, my poodle is smarter than Ramos. Watch the forum in Big Bear on youtube and see how big of a moron Ramos is. Good luck, cause Ramos is going to need it (but he isn’t going to get it.)
FOR ALL OF YOU VOTERS WHO INSIST JAMES RAMOS WILL REPRESENT YOUR CONSERVATIVE VALUES…
Please inform yourselves on WHO Ramos really is-
WHO HE SURROUNDS HIMSELF WITH AND IDENTIFIES HIMSELF WITH…
Democrats, NOT conservative Democrats, LIBERAL DEMOCRATS!
Below is a SMALL portion from a group called “VOTE NOW” who endorsed RAMOS…
“We have endorsed Rep. JOE BACA for re-election to Congress and JOSIE GONZALEZ for San Bernardino County 5th District Supervisor. We endorse JAMES RAMOS for San Bernardino County 3rd District Supervisor because he has shown his leadership among the California Indian Tribes… Who can we point to with significant accomplishments in Sacramento? Gwen Moore and Maxine Waters made sure that regulated industries MUST hire small and minority contractors. Banks MUST provide monies where they used to redline…”
YOU GET THE POINT?
I figured Derry was mired in dept. I wonder how he will pay his bills after November? Ahhh yes, LOUNGE SINGING!
Derry, instead of listening to Erwin’s pipe dreams, you should be working to mend your relationship with your new employer San Manuel. LUCK BE A LADY TONIGHT.
SEBA made the right decision. How silly would that have looked for a union of Law Enforcement officers to endorse someone on probation?
SEBA may think they KNOW who to endorse. BUT SEBA just lost their best criminal defense attorney Michael Schwartz to the law firm of Deiter Dammeier.
That would be the law firm who knows how to represents it’s members and is NOT afraid to take on the corrupt officials withing SBSD or the county, ALREADY proven.
LMOA, a MAJOR slap in SEBA’s face.
Racer I am sure you clueless about all that, but continue on with you rhetoric about Derry.
